WHAT HAPPENED TO STEVE RAWLINGS, YOUR PREVIOUS SINGER?
We have lost any contact with him since 2010, when after he initially agreed to reform and recorded a track at the time called "Towers" then changed into "Change of skin". We believe he lives in the US but have no idea of what he is doing. As far as we know he has sadly retired from the music scene. We hope he is ok.
WHAT ABOUT THE RUMOURS ABOUT LEGAL ISSUES?
As many of you know, our ex drummer Paul Gilmartin left the band in January 2014 to form a new band while we were on tour and we sadly had to cancel it due to lack of notice. A few months afterwards, Gilmartin registered a trademark with the aim to obtain exclusive use of the name The Danse Society. Even though it was only a graphic mark, this sadly caused issuees with Dark Waters Festival and other events that were threatened with legal action. We filed and obtained cancellation of his trademark and finally were awarded The Danse Society trademark in 2016 because even though the band lineup was no longer the same as the 80's Paul Nash is the last man standing in the band.

Unfortunately, even though we were awarded the band name, one of his band mates attempted the registration of a very similar trademark in 2017, so we had to file opposition once again and obtained the application to be rejected due to the decision of the Appointed Person that you can read in the link above.
Even though the court has been clear twice on the exclusive use of our band name awarded to us, defamatory interviews and misleading articles on the press and social media, along with the improper use of our full biography and discography contributed to cause more issues with promoters and the public, until we felt forced to initiate proceedings with the aim to end the turmoil for once and all.
We are now pleased to confirm that a court order has now been sealed and we can go ahead with reinventing our sound along with performing The Danse Society classics on stage as always, while Gilmartin can go ahead with his new band. We really hope this puts and end to hostility as well and we wish his band all the best in the future.
Thank you for your continuous support over the years.
Peace & love
